At least three new K-pop girl groups are set for stardom in 2024, the Korea Times reports, hoping to join the ranks of NewJeans, IVE, Le Sserafim and aespa.
On 25 March, entertainment powerhouse Hybe launches the five-member group Illit, whose members – Yunah, Minju, Moka, Wonhee and Iroha – won the 2023 audition show, R U Next?
“We are so happy and thrilled to make our much-desired debut,” they said in a statement released through the label. “Please give us your support and love.”

According to Hybe – responsible for such K-pop juggernauts as BTS, NewJeans, Enhypen and Le Sserafim – Illit’s name is a combination of the English words “I will” and “it.” As its name implies, Illit is a group that “boasts the potential to become anything it wants,” the company said.
A “brand film” promoting the group, dropped yesterday.
The other two new groups in the year’s lineup have not yet been named. One is reportedly set to be unveiled by Blackpink’s label (the Black Label) in the first half of 2024.
Rumour has it that a great-granddaughter of late Samsung Group founder Lee Byung-chull will be in the group after she was seen in a series of behind-the-scenes photos, the Korea Times says.

The other group is expected to enter the scene in the later months of the year, launched by SM Entertainment – the entertainment company behind aespa.
SM CEO Jang Cheol-hyuk said last year that the label was preparing to put a new band together in 2024.
