Apple has confirmed it is working on a fix for iPhone alarms that have mysteriously gone quiet, according to multiple media reports. The news comes after a large number of iPhone owners turned to social media over the past few days to complain that their regular wake-up calls were failing to rouse them as scheduled.

While it is currently unclear whether the problem is model or software related, Apple says it is aware of an issue making alarms either play too quietly or not at all.

Several fixes have been suggested by iPhone users, including switching off an affected device’s “attention aware” feature (available on iPhone X or newer devices, and iPad Pro 11-inch or iPad Pro 12.9-inch).

Another is via the ringtone and alerts volume slider, which can be easily turned up in “change with buttons” mode. This can be found in settings, under “sound and haptics.”

iPhone owners were being urged to double-check their alarms before going to bed to ensure they’re in working order.

The company’s competitor Samsung, meanwhile, has posted on TikTok that its users “woke up on time today.” It included a video of a dachshund DJing beneath the words, “rest assured, our alarms GO OFF.”
