After torrential rain early on Wednesday morning, a blessing ceremony was held in Praça do Tap Seac in the afternoon for this week’s Wushu Masters Challenge.

Aimed at promoting traditional Chinese martial arts, the Wushu Master Challenge, to be held from today to Sundaycomprises a string of activities that will be held at several locations around the city, according to the Sports Bureau’s webpage.

The event gathers about 400 wushu masters from Europe, the Middle East and Asia, Sports Bureau President Pun Weng Kun said at the ceremony.

Due to the unsettled weather, Pun said that his bureau will adjust the time of the programmes or move the events indoors, when asked by reporters what measures the bureau would take if it rains heavily during the next few days at the outdoor venues which do not have been equipped with marquees.

Pun also said his bureau had a back-up plan in case of adverse weather conditions, adding that the bureau would announce the plan this afternoon depending on the weather conditions in the morning.

According to a statement released by the bureau, each resident or tourist can get four free tickets for six programmes at the Tap Seac Multisport Pavilion.

The Wushu Master Challenge is being hosted by the Sports Bureau and Wushu General Association of Macau in conjunction with several other organisations.(Macau News / The Macau Post Daily)
