Chinese Olympic gold medallist Chen Yufei and Indonesia’s Alwi Farhan won the women’s and men’s singles events, respectively, at the Sands China Ltd. Macau Open Badminton 2025. The competition, which ended on Sunday, featured 269 athletes from 29 countries and territories.
The doubles titles were earned by Chinese Taipei’s Hong Enci and Hsieh Pei-shan in the women’s event, Malaysia’s Yap Rui Ching and Arif in the men’s event and Denmark’s Mathias Christiansen and Alexandra Bøje in the mixed event.
The Macau Open Badminton, on its second annual iteration, is part of the HSBC BWF World Tour Super 300. This year’s prize pool was set at US$210,000 (approximately 1.68 million patacas).

Apart from the winners, the star-studded roster also included former Chinese Olympic athlete Chen Qingchen, as well as several teams ranked in the top ten of their respective events: Indonesian men’s doubles players Sabar Karyaman Gutama and Moh Reza Pahlevi Isfahani, Danish mixed doubles players Jesper Toft and Amalie Magelund and Malaysian mixed doubles players Chen Tang Jie and Toh Ee Wei.
According to a statement from Sands China, the tournament received a record-breaking 442 applications for entry.
The event was part of a collaboration between the sports and tourism sectors in Macao, which “helps Macao’s badminton players achieve high standards” and promotes the city’s goals of becoming a “City of Sports,” said Kong Tat Choi, president of the Badminton Federation of Macau.
