Macao racer Charles Leong and his Irish teammate Alex Denning have strengthened their lead in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia (LSTA) Championship pro class, following two strong podium finishes in Round 4 at South Korea’s Inje Speedium over the weekend. The news was posted to Lamborghini’s website.

Competing for SJM Theodore Racing, the duo finished second in Race 1 on Saturday, just 0.8 seconds behind leaders Gavin Huang (Taiwan) and Jonathan Cecotto (Monaco). They followed up with a victory on Sunday, overcoming a time penalty and pulling ahead on the final lap.

The results mirrored Leong and Denning’s previous LSTA performances in Fuji, Japan, and Shanghai.

With five wins and three second-place finishes in eight races, Leong and Denning now sit comfortably atop the LSTA rankings with 113 points – 32 ahead of their nearest rivals, Huang and Cecotto.

“We showed a lot of speed and an amazing team effort,” Leong, a two-time Formula 4 Macau Grand Prix winner, told media after the race. “Looking forward to the next race in Malaysia.”

The championship takes a summer break before resuming at Malaysia’s Sepang Circuit in early September. The season wraps in November in Misano, Italy, where it’s immediately followed by the Super Trofeo World Finals.
