The final round of the Touring Car Championship at the 70th Macao Grand Prix was won this morning by Irishman Max Hart in a Hyundai Elantra N TCR.  It is Hart’s first race in Macao and first China TCR win.

The race champion started in pole position and held off pressure from second place Xie Xinzhe behind him. They put a wide gap between themselves and third place Yang Xiaowei.

Two crashes occurred. In the 7th lap, Martin Cao was stuck between three vehicles and ended up knocking Macao’s Andre Couto to the Lisboa Bend barriers.

Cao, who won yesterday, looked to have damaged his vehicle but carried on before pulling over in the pits moments later.

Another drama took place at the Lisboa Bend with four laps to go, when Aaron Kwok and Chan Chun Leung collided. A yellow flag and the safety car were out. When the green flag was unfurled in the final lap, Xie was right on the tail of Max Hart, but the latter defended his lead well.

Briton Jack Young, second in the China Touring Car Championship ranking, was stuck in tenth place in this morning’s race.
