Macau earned its third medal at the 19th Asian Games on Tuesday – a bronze in the men’s nanquan event, snapped up by Huang Junhua.

Nanquan is a southern Chinese form of wushu, an exhibition sport based on martial arts.

According to the Macau Post Daily, Huang Junhua – who won gold at the Asian Games in Jakarta in 2018 – said that this was the last year he would be competing in the quadrennial event.

“I have just one more wish, that is to win a gold medal at the Asian Wushu Championship next year,” the 31-year-old said.

The day before, Song Chi Kuan earned bronze for the SAR in the men’s changquan final.

Macao sent a sizable delegation of more than 180 athletes to the 2023 Asian Games, which are being held in Hangzhou until 8 October.
