Macau, China, 13 Oct – Drivers from Europe, South America, Scandinavia, the Middle East, Asia and the Pacific are taking part in the 26th edition of the F3 Macau Grand Prix, to take place on 15 and 16 November, the organisers of the event said today.
According to Joao Costa Antunes, the coordinator of the organising committee of Macau Grand Prix, the list of participants includes British pilot Oliver Turvey and Spaniard Jaime Alguersuari, both of whom will be driving a Dallara F308 and racing with the Carlin Motorsport team.
Carlin Motorsport will also have New Zealander Brendon Hartley, a British F3 front-runner this season and Sweden’s Marcus Ericsson.
Frenchman Jules Bianchi and Finnish driver Mika Mäki, from the Art Grand Prix and Signature Plus teams, respectively, will also be competing at the Macau GP. These drivers are currently fourth and fifth in the standings of the F3 Euro Series.
Japan’s Kaisuke Kunimoto, second place in the Japan F3 in 2007, will be driving alongside Dutch Carlo Van Dam, newly-crowned champion in Japan, for Tom’s Team.
The following drivers will be competing for the first time in Macau: Kei Cozzolino of Italy (NOW Motorsport) and Japan’s Koki Saga (Le Beaussett Motorsports) and Masaki Matsushita (Ombra Racing).
Other newcomers include China’s Frankie Cheng Cong Fu and Basil Shaaban of Lebanon.
Japan’s Kazuya Oshima, who came in third place in 2007 and won the Japanese F3 last year, is racing this year for the Manor MotorSport team with Britons Jon Lancaster and Sam Bird, all of them driving Dallara F308s.
Returning to Macau is Italian Edoardo Mortara, Briton James Jakes, Brazilian Roberto Streit, who finished fifth in 2007, and Atte Mustonen of Finland and Michael Ho of Macau at Raikkonen-Robertson Racing.
The Macau Grand Prix takes place on a city circuit of 6.2 kilometres.
