China’s most successful boxer Zou Shiming won his professional boxing debut against Mexican teenager Eleazar Valenzuela on Saturday in Macau according to Xinhua News Agency.

Zou, a two-time Olympic gold medalist, won a unanimous points decision – 40-36 – from three judges after a 15-minute four-round fight with his 18-year-old opponent.

“I am happy to start my professional boxing career with a win, though it’s only a four-rounder,” said the 31-year-old flyweight boxer.

“I am grateful to China for supporting me along my way to sucees in the Olympic Games. I would not have been here without the country’s support. It doesn’t matter where I go, I will always be Chinese,” he added.

Zou became China’s first Olympic boxing champion in 2008 Beijing Olympics and added a second gold last year in London. (macaunews)
