Voting for the 22nd edition of TDM’s Best of the Pop competition has begun, giving local music enthusiasts the opportunity to cast a maximum of three votes for any of the 57 nominated songs that they like best.

The voting can be done online and will last until 11:59 pm on 20 July. Winners will be announced during an award ceremony scheduled at the Macao Cultural Centre at 8 pm on 1 August.

Among new accolades this year are the  “Sing for National Games of China Award” and “Original Cantonese Song Award” to get people behind the upcoming games and promote the merits of Cantonese music.

The competition is seen as an opportunity for local singers to gain greater publicity not just locally but in the wider Greater Bay Area (GBA).

Local musician Elisa Chan tells TDM that she believes the competition encourages music exchange in Macao, and she hopes her music will reach more people through this opportunity.

According to Ho Fei, the production manager of TDM, the increase in the number of participating songs (from 51 to 57) is a testament to how the competition has continued to provide a platform for Macao’s musicians to freely create their own works and to exchange music, as well as to promote the development of Macao’s music industry.
