The Cultural Affairs Bureau (known by the Portuguese initials IC) has opened submissions for the 2026 Macao International Parade, which is scheduled to take place on 29 March. Registered local associations, schools, and small-to-medium enterprises (SMEs) are invited to participate by submitting their proposals for consideration. The deadline for all submissions is 5:30 pm on 25 January.
Since its inception in 2011, the Macao International Parade has become a vibrant spectacle, bringing together international performance troupes and talented local artists. Adorned in imaginative costumes, the groups guide residents and tourists through the bustling streets, promoting ‘Love, Peace and Cultural Integration’ while highlighting the unique architecture and cultural ambience of the Historic Centre of Macao.
This year, the parade is encouraging participating groups to focus on Macao’s identity as a “City of Sails,” a nod to its past importance as a global trade window during the Age of Discovery. The theme aims to inspire creative expression and showcase the city’s spirit of cultural innovation and integration. The parade route will begin at the iconic Ruins of St. Paul’s and conclude at Praça do Lago Sai Van.
Performance groups can apply to participate in one of four categories: the Themed Parade Group, the Artistic Parade Group, the Parade of Large-Scale Artistic Installations, and the Special Planning Parade. A variety of prizes will be awarded this year to boost the engagement level of all participants.

In the days leading up to the main event, the festive atmosphere will be extended into the local communities through a series of outreach activities. Participants have the option to join the Community Performance and Street Art Groups to bring different forms of culture and arts directly to residents. There is also an opportunity for groups to apply to be part of the opening or closing performances.
In a move to encourage local SME participation in major public events, the IC will also host the VIVA Carnival at Anim’Arte Nam Van on the day before and the day of the Parade. Local SMEs are invited to submit proposals for providing speciality food, drinks, and creative interactive experiences, aiming to make the carnival a major complementary highlight to the main parade.
Interested local art groups and SMEs must submit their proposals and relevant information to the Division of Recreational Activities of the Cultural Affairs Bureau
Further information and registration details can be found and downloaded from the IC’s website.
