The Macao Arts Festival is offering a 30 percent discount on tickets for selected shows in a flash sale that ends 19 April, according to the festival organiser.

The festival is set to take place from 3 May to 7 June and include a lineup of 19 different shows and 23 outreach activities such as meet-the-artist sessions, backstage tours and workshops.

The Cultural Affairs Bureau (known by its Portuguese initials IC) has also announced two additional performances of the shows Jungle Book Reimagined and Duck Pond, on 4 May and 19 May respectively. Both shows are included in the flash sale, along with a Sino-Portuguese Concert and the contemporary ballet production of Sleeping Beauty.

Jungle Book Reimagined is a dance-theatre production  by UK choreographer Akram Khan.  The show transports elements of Rudyard Kipling’s classic tale, which was set in India, into a city beset by climate change.

Duck Pond, meanwhile, is a cross between Tchaikovsky’s ballet Swan Lake and Hans Christian Andersen’s fairy tale The Ugly Duckling – produced and performed by Australia’s Circa ensemble.
