An exhibition that marks the second anniversary of the Amagao Gallery is being held between now and 5 May.

Situated on the ground floor of Artyzen Grand Lapa hotel, Amagao Gallery focuses on art from lusophone countries and Macao. The new Year 2 exhibition features 34 artists who work in paint and mixed media.

According to an official statement, an opening ceremony was organised on 22 March to launch the show, with guests including the Portuguese consul-general Alexandre Leitão, the Artyzen Grand Lapa’s general manager Rutger Verschuren, and Jose I. Duarte and other managing partners of the gallery.

“After two years…we have witnessed a growing interest in local and regional art,” said Verschuren. “We will continue our collaboration with Amagao Gallery to present captivating art pieces…showcasing diverse forms of art from local and international artists”

One of the artists whose work is being exhibited is Australian-born artist Denis Murrell, who has been residing in Macao since 1989. Speaking with TDM, Murrell noted that many young people in the city were unable to participate in exhibitions due to a lack of space and time.

Amagao Gallery is open from Tuesday to Sunday, between 11 am and 8 pm. More information about the Year 2 exhibition can be found on the Artyzen Grand Lapa website
