The Guia Circuit, the world-famous street circuit for the Macau Grand Prix, was closed for a few hours on Sunday, not for the annual motor-racing contest but for a fun run where nearly 2,000 people ran around the 6.2 kilometre track.
The fun run, organised by the Macau Grand Prix Organising Committee (MGPOC), was part of a string of activities to mark the 65th Macau Grand Prix which will take place from Thursday to Sunday.
It was the first time that the street circuit was open for such an event, giving locals an opportunity to experience running round Reservoir Bend, Mandarin Bend and Lisboa Bend, as well as the Matsuya section of the track.
The fun run consisted of one lap around the track, and Iao Kuan Un was the first to cross the finishing line, completing the 6.2-km-run in 20 minutes and 5 seconds, winning the men’s prize.
In the women’s category, Hoi Long was the winner, completing the race in 23 minutes and 9 seconds.
The top ten men and women runners who successfully completed the Guia Circuit were awarded trophies, with a full sheet of Bank of China (BOC) 100-year anniversary commemorative banknotes for the first-to-third-placed finishers, and an uncut sheet of three BOC 100-year anniversary commemorative banknotes for fourth-to-tenth placed finishers.
All participants who finished the race received a commemorative medal, towel and souvenirs.
