Ten properties owned by SJM have been recognised by the oenophile’s bible Wine Spectator as being among the world’s best restaurants for wine, according to an announcement issued by the gaming concessionaire yesterday.

Two of SJM’s properties, Robuchon au Dôme and Casa Don Alfonso, were among 96 restaurants worldwide to be given the top honour – known as the Grand Award – respectively earning it for the 20th and 15th consecutive year.

Meanwhile, eight SJM restaurants (the Kitchen, Palace Garden, Mesa by José Avillez, Zuicho, Hua Ting, the Grand Buffet, the 8 and Don Alfonso 1890) all managed to garner the “Best of” Award of Excellence – joining a group of more than 1,500 such restaurants around the world.

“The prestigious recognitions from Wine Spectator further underscore our team’s dedication to our wine program and our commitment to superior quality, exceptional selections, and fine dining pairings,” said SJM managing director Daisy Ho.

The casino operator currently has 17,600 labels and more than half a million bottles of wine, making up one of the most comprehensive and exclusive wine collections in Asia.

Inaugurated in 1981, the Wine Spectator annual awards are handed out to restaurants that have shown excellence in terms of their wine lists and service. They consist of three tiers – the Award of Excellence, the Best of Award of Excellence and the Grand Prize.
