Officials including Edmund Ho Hau Wah, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Consultative Conference (CPPCC), and Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) Director Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes attended the Four-Faced Buddha’s holy birthday on Monday in Taipa.

According to a statement by the organiser, the “Four-Faced Buddha Holy Birthday Organisation Committee” hosted the celebration and prayed for world peace, economic recovery, residents’ happiness and combating COVID-19.

The statement added that due to the novel coronavirus pandemic, representatives from Thailand were not able to officiate over the celebration but attended the ceremony via live stream.

According to Wikipedia, the Four-Faced Buddha is also known as Phra Phrom. Each head represents a different aspect of the deity and each side of Phra Phrom offers different blessings. Worshipers of the divinity usually offer incense, candles, jasmine flowers or jasmine garlands, and young coconuts (with water in them) in their worship, usually placing these offerings in front of all four heads of Phra Phrom.
