The Macao Cultural Centre is launching a fresh round of its Local View Power (LVP) programme, which calls for local directors to present new cinematic projects inspired by the city’s socio-economic realities.

The latest edition of the programme, which has a commission budget of MOP 1.32 million, will be granted to contenders in three categories, and will have a production period of 16 months before the premiere screenings.

Commissioning up to 14 projects, the contest is aimed at candidates over three experience levels: “Advanced”, “Open” and “Freshmen”.

Candidates will be assessed by a panel of accredited audio-visual professionals in “Documentary”, “Short Feature” and “Animation” categories.

Since 2007, LVP has been boosting new local film visions, challenging both emerging and established filmmakers.

The last 13 editions have received nearly 600 proposals, resulting in 134 films, several of which have received awards overseas, attesting local filmmakers’ creative and productive drives.

All selected teams will be provided with technical and financial support for the completion of their productions, including a “mentorship scheme” devised and tutored by guest professionals.

Those who are keen to see their cinematic perspectives premiere on the silver screen may download application forms at CCM’s website. The deadline of the proposal submission is 19 February.
