Two new Covid-19 vaccines are due to arrive in Macao this month and the Health Bureau is drawing up plans to inoculate residents.

The BioNTech bivalent mRNA vaccine is proof against the novel coronavirus Omicron variant strain BA.4/5. It is only recommended for over-12s who have already had their first jab and not recommended as part of the Primary Series.

The other new vaccine is the Comirnaty (BioNTech) mRNA, specifically for children aged from six months to four years.

The composition of the vaccine is the same as that of the current adult dosage, which is the monovalent mRNA vaccine of the original strain, but the inoculation dose is lower than that of the adult formula.
