A 57-year-old Macao resident who lives in the same building as the original carrier tested positive for Covid-19 yesterday. The building in which he lives was locked down on Wednesday and the man has remained in this controlled zone since.
He tested negative on Wednesday and Thursday until finally testing positive yesterday. The man and his family have since been sent to the Public Health Clinical Center in Alto de Coloane.
According to the Novel Coronavirus Response Coordination Centre, the risk of community transmission is relatively low. The first Red Code Zone’s original re-opening date was set for 1 November, however, it has now been extended to 3 November.
Two additional buildings – next to the first locked down building – have also been classified as Red Code Zones as of yesterday: Edifício Weng Heng: Rua Um do Bairro da Concórdia 11-15, Rua Dois do Bairro da Concórdia 12-16 and Edifício Weng Heng: Rua Um do Bairro da Concórdia 1, Rua do Comandante João Belo 14-22 , Rua Dois do Bairro da Concórdia 2.
In the meantime, Zhuhai has announced that a 20-year-old man – who has been under isolation – tested positive for Covid-19. The asymptomatic carrier has been confirmed as related to the original case in Macao.
