Two mainland Chinese men who flew into Macao from Beijing on Thursday have come down with Covid-19.
The first positive case is a 40-year-old male, a mainland China resident, who flew from Beijing to Macao on NX001 on 1 December. His nucleic acid test (NAT) result was negative when he landed at the airport that night. On the evening of 2 December, a tube of mixed samples at The Venetian NAT station recorded a positive result. Health workers immediately contacted the people involved. Investigations showed that the man attended the 2022 Ctrip Global Partner Summit on 2 December and sat at table 35 for lunch and dinner.
The second positive case is a 28-year-old male, a mainland China resident, who flew from Beijing to Macao on NX009 on 1 December. His NAT result was negative that night. He was also traced to a tube of mixed samples at The Venetian NAT station. Investigations showed that he had enjoyed a buffet meal with his companions at the Urban Kitchen on the second floor of the JW Marriott Hotel from 8-8:45 pm on 1 December, and he and his companions gambled at The Venetian casino from 9 pm until 1 am.
The Novel Response and Coordination Center stated that the above two people are currently asymptomatic, have been listed as imported asymptomatic infection cases, and are currently being treated in isolation.
Yesterday, the city also registered two Covid-19 cases from Beijing.
