Public servants, social service facility workers and school and university teachers, staff and students returning to Macao from Shenzhen or any other region outside Guangdong in mainland China will be subject to special Covid-19 nucleic acid testing (NAT) measures this month.

All will be required to undergo two NATs within three days after returning to Macao; the two tests must each be carried out at least 24 hours apart.

The government said the special measures had been introduced in the wake of “the latest Covid-19 developments in neighbouring regions”.

Zhuhai health authorities reported four local Covid-19 cases at the weekend. Since early this month, Zhuhai has reported around 10 local cases.

As of yesterday, Macao’s Covid-19 tally of confirmed and asymptomatic cases stood at 793 and 1,658 respectively, of which 787 and 1,647 have recovered, according to the Health Bureau, The Macau Post Daily reported.
