Delta cluster shuts down public facilities and events

Nurseries and sports venues are temporarily closed, while many events and activities have been cancelled as Covid-19 impacts the city as never before.

While Macao submits to mass testing over the next three days, many of the city’s public facilities are curtailing their activities or closing temporarily as indicated below. 

Cultural Affairs Bureau
All events hosted by the bureau at museums, public libraries, cultural heritage sites and craft markets are cancelled until 16 August.

Summer activities, courses and training programmes are either cancelled or rescheduled; the bureau will notify participants when new arrangements are made.

The Wong Ieng Kuan Library in Luís de Camões Garden is closed until further notice, as are the Macao Museum, Macao Cultural Centre, and Navy Yards No.1 and No.2. 

Labour Affairs Bureau
The Labour Affairs Bureau has cancelled its Youth Career Expo 2021 scheduled for this weekend. 

Sports Bureau
All Sports Bureau facilities will be closed starting from today. Public physical education, training activities and youth school sports activities and courses have been cancelled.

Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO)
The Macao Grand Prix Museum and Lei Si Building are closed until further notice. A refund process will be announced in the near future for anyone who has already bought tickets.

“Stay, Dine and See Macao” tours have been cancelled from today until Friday.  Other MGTO activities such as training courses and celebratory activities will be cancelled or rescheduled.

Education and Youth Development Bureau
The bureau’s youth hostels, Juvenile Art Exhibition and Performance Hall, its study rooms and school facilities are all closed until further notice.

IAS nurseries
All subsidised nurseries are closed from today until Friday. The bureau urged private nurseries to follow its lead.
