Macao’s last day of stabilisation period has been interrupted by the sudden announcement of a Covid-19 case found in the community. The Novel Coronavirus Infection Response Coordination Centre said it received a notification from Zhuhai this morning that a frequent traveller from Macao tested positive for Covid-19 in a nucleic acid test performed in Zhuhai this morning.

The individual tested negative in more than 10 NATs undergone in Macao before 4 August. Since noon today, Taipa’s Grand Mart supermarket near the Macao Jockey Club and the Polytec Garden Tower 1 residential building in Areia Preta have now been locked down.

All residents living in the building will now have to undergo further NATs to see if any other residents have also been infected with Covid-19. The affected individual works at a bakery shop within the Grand Mart supermarket in Taipa.
