The Macao International Museum Day Carnival 2023 will take place this Sunday at the Macao Science Centre.

The event, held to mark International Museum Day on 18 May, will feature a wide range of activities, including games and workshops, according to an official handout.

The carnival is part of a series of commemorative events taking place in local museums during May. These include special exhibitions and classes in everything from drawing and woodblock printing to ceramics and paper making.

The Macao Museum and the Tung Sin Tong Historical Archive Exhibition Hall are hosting special tours, while a museum-themed online game has been created. Running from 14 May until June 4, the game offers residents a chance to win museum gifts among other prizes.

The “highlights of museums and cultural heritage of Macao will be showcased” during the course of the month, the government says, fostering a “cultural atmosphere in the community”.

The opening ceremony of the Macao International Museum Day Carnival 2023 takes place at 2:00 pm.
