An extensive temporary housing project in Areia Preta will be completed by the end of 2024, according to a government statement.

Designed to offer homes for property owners whose neighbourhoods are being affected by urban renewal projects, the development consists of 2,000 flats in eight residential towers.

Fitting out and scaffolding removal is currently underway, officials say, following topping out of the eight blocks in December last year.

Two public roads will be constructed to ease traffic congestion in the area, along with sufficient parking for cars and motorcycles.

The development will also feature a bus terminus, green space and a pedestrian thoroughfare linking it to the surrounding district.

Members of the public who are interested in seeing a show flat can make an appointment via the Macau Urban Renewal website.
