Macao’s budding rock stars have the opportunity to attend a band camp with some of Hong Kong’s best known musicians.
Organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau, the “Echo Programme – Band Training Camp” will take place over four two-day sessions in September and October and will cover such topics as band performance, stage performance, and music production.
Participants during the camp will also be tasked with writing a hit song, with mentors offering guidance on arrangement, melody, and production. Those who do the best will have the opportunity to perform on stage at the Hush Beach Concerts and New Year’s Eve countdown concert.

The lead mentor for the programme is Hong Kong guitarist, composer and touring musician Jason Kui. He will be supported by Lawrence Tsui (drums), Chan Siu Kei (bass), and Wendyz Zheng (vocals and harmony) – high-calibre professionals well known on the Hong Kong music scene.
Applicants for the camp must be members of a band, hold a Macao SAR Permanent Resident Identity Card, and be at least 18 years old. Applications are now open and will be accepted until 12 July.
Regulations and forms can be viewed and downloaded from the Cultural Affairs Bureau website at or from the Macao Cultural and Creative Industries website.
