The storied UK music festival Glastonbury has invited Seventeen to headline its 2024 edition – marking a major milestone for the K-Pop genre, Rolling Stone reports.
No K-Pop act has performed in a top-slot on Glastonbury’s iconic Pyramid Stage previously. The festival, which has been running since 1970, tends to be dominated by Western performers.
Seventeen will be joined by fellow headliners Dua Lipa, Coldplay, SZA, Shania Twain, LCD Soundsystem, and PJ Harvey, among others. Glastonbury is set to take place 26-30 June and more than 200,000 festival-goers are expected to attend.

The band is also expected to play at the Lollapalooza festival in Berlin, Germany, come September.
Having K-Pop acts perform at major European festivals is another sign of the genre’s ascent as a dominant force in the global music scene. Last month, the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) announced that four of 2023’s 10 best-selling acts hailed from South Korea.
Seventeen premiered a new song – the “Meaning of Meeting” – in Macao back in January. Noise and other problems resulting from their stadium concert at the Olympic Sports Centre caused the local government to reconsider how large-scale music events should be run in Macao.
