Severe weather has killed 83 people and injured 98 in Mozambique since November, according to the latest report by the National Institute for Disaster Management.
The institute said that heavy rains, strong winds, lightning, uncontrolled burning and bushfires have affected 63,485 people across the country since November, totally destroying over 1,180 homes and partially destroying around 3,300.

It also states that 444 classrooms have been completely destroyed and 214 partially.
Eight health units, 298 kilometres of roads and nine aqueducts were also destroyed.
Since 7 February, the most critical situation has been in the Greater Maputo region, with 7 people killed by flooding in a 24-hour period and the number of people affected exceeding 38,000.
Mozambique is in the middle of its rainy and cyclone season, which begins in November and runs until April.
