Two-time Macau Grand Prix winner Maro Engel of Germany won the Macau GT Cup today.
Engel, 37, also won the qualifying round of the Macau GT Cup driving a Mercedes AMG GT3 EVO on Saturday.
The long-time Mercedes-AMG driver has a string of triumphs to his name, including FIA GT World Cup Champion, Nürburgring 24-hour winner, DTM race winner and Suzuka 10 hours winner.
Engel currently races in a Mercedes-AMG GT3 and in the FIA Formula E championship. He has previously raced in the DTM, V8 Supercars, F3000, F3 and Formula E.
Swiss driver Edoardo Mortara came second in the Macau GT Cup after finishing fourth in Saturday’s qualifying race.
Multiple Formula E race winner Mortara drives an Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II run by Absolute Racing under the Audi Sport Asia Team Absolute banner. The Swiss-Italian is the most successful driver in the GT element of the Macau Grand Prix with four victories in the 6.12-kilometre Guia Street circuit to date.
Alexandre Imperatori from Hong Kong, driving a Porsche GT3 R, took third place.
Swiss driver Raffaele Marciello maintained first position for the initial laps of the race but had to withdraw due to mechanical problems with his Mercedes.
Due to the presence of the safety car following many incidents during the race, drivers said the number of laps was reduced and which did not lend itself to a good race performance.
