The Public Administration and Civic Service Bureau (SAPF) said in a statement yesterday that it would start the procedure to confirm the nomination committees for September’s direct and indirect elections.

The bureau said that it would verify that any applications contain all the required documents, which it has to receive no later than June 18, after which it will issue certificates by June 28 confirming that all those on the nomination committees are eligible voters.

According to the Legislative Election Law, the registration process for each nomination committee must comprise at least 300 and no more than 500 signatures from eligible voters.

The election is scheduled for September 15.

The new legislature will consist of 14 directly-elected, 12 indirectly-elected and seven government-appointed lawmakers.

Legislative elections must be held on a Sunday.(macaunews)
