Macau, China, 10 Aug – Brazil beat China 3-2 to claim the title of the 2009 World women’s volleyball Grand Prix Macau leg on Sunday in the chinese city.
In the first two sets Brazil won 25-21 and 25-20 but China team looked more confident in the third and fourth sets and won 25-19 and 25-22.
In the deciding set the Chinese team set up a 8-5 lead but Brazil came back to a 15-12 victorious end.
In another match played on Sunday, the Poland team defeated Thailand in straight-set 26-24, 25-13, 25-22.
The first round of the 2009 World women’s volleyball Grand Prix took place in Rio de Janeiro in Brazil; Kielce in Poland; and Ningbo in the People’s Republic of China.
The second round took place in Macau, Miao Li, Taiwan and Osaka, Japan.
The third round will be held between 14 and 16 August in Mokpo, in South Korea, Bangkok in Thailand and Hong Kong.
The final, scheduled to take place between 19 and 23 August, in Tokyo, will have the top five ranked teams, as well as Japan, which has secured a spot for being the host nation.
Brazil team won the FIVB World Grand Prix 2008 after beating Japan 5-0 in Yokohama in July last year.
Netherlands won the FIVB competuition on 2007 and Brazil the 2006 FIVB World Grand Prix.
