Organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC), the Tap Siac Craft Market will be held from 20 to 22 November and from 27 to 29 November in the eponymous square, the Chinese name which is also spelt Tap Seac (“Stacked Rocks”) in Western languages.

To encourage the public’s participation, the bureau said in a statement on Tuesday that it is now calling for proposals by stall operators and handicraft workshops. “Interested parties are welcome to submit their proposals,” the statement said.

Inaugurated in 2008, the Tap Siac Craft Market has been a platform for cultural and creative practitioners to display and sell their products, and has become a local brand of the cultural and creative market, the statement pointed out.

Due to the COVID-19 epidemic, the number of stalls in the upcoming market will be slightly adjusted to 110 handicraft and creative gastronomy stalls, which will showcase a diverse range of creative products by cultural and creative industry practitioners from Macao and the mainland. Concurrently, music performances and handicraft workshops will be held, the statement noted.

Applications for stall operators and creative handicraft workshops can be submitted until 11:59 pm on 7 September and are free of charge. Local stall operators can submit their applications online through the Tap Siac Craft Market website at www.craftmarket.gov.mo; operators of creative handicraft workshops may apply either by submitting their applications by hard copy or by email, the statement said.

The printed application form can be obtained from, and submitted at the reception of the Cultural Affairs Bureau Building in Praça do Tap Seac during office hours, while the electronic form can be downloaded from the Tap Siac Craft Market website and the Macao Cultural and Creative Industries website at www.macaucci.gov.mo. If the number of eligible applicants exceeds the quota, the bureau will select the proposals by stall operators and handicraft workshops by lucky draw, according to the statement.

The bureau said it would continue to pay close attention to the development of the outbreak, follow the relevant guidelines of the Health Bureau (SSM), and make appropriate arrangements for the activities. For enquiries, phone 8399 6289 during office hours.
