Macau recorded 10.3 million visitors arrivals in the first four months of the year, a year-on-year growth of nine percent, the Statistics and Census Bureau (DSEC) has announced.
According to the DSEC in April Macau recorded 2.63 million visitor arrivals, a year-on-year growth of 10 percent,
The bureau attributed the two-digit rise to the Easter holidays in Hong Kong and elsewhere.
Same-day visitors accounted for 54 percent of the total.
April logged the highest monthly number of visitors so far this year.
A daily average of 87,887 visitors arrived in Macau last month.
Mainlanders accounted for two thirds of all visitor arrivals in April.
Visitors from Guangdong province made up 39.3 percent of all mainland visitors.
About 41 percent of all mainland visitors arrived in Macau under the Individual Visit Scheme (IVS).
Hong Kong and Taiwan residents accounted for 22.2 and three percent of all visitor arrivals respectively.
While the number of Hong Kong visitors rose nine percent, the number of mainland visitors leapt 14 percent.
Visitors’ average length of stay remained unchanged at just one day.(macaunews/macaupost)
