Macau’s number of visitor arrivals dropped slightly by 0.6 percent year-on-year to 2.68 million last month, marking a slowdown in the year-on-year decline in visitors since May, according to official statistics cited by The Macau Post Daily today.

In July, the number of visitor arrivals fell 4.2 percent year-on-year. In June, the number was down 3.4 percent and in May it dropped 6.5 percent.

Same-day visitors accounted for 50.2 percent of the total number of arrivals in August. Visitors’ average length of stay stood at just one day, down by 0.1 day year-on-year.

Mainlanders accounted for 60.9 percent of all arrivals last month. Most mainland visitors came from Fujian, Guangdong and Hunan. The number of mainland visitors rose 4.1 percent.

Hongkongers accounted for 24.8 percent of all visitors. The number of Hong Kong visitors dropped 10.3 percent.

Visitors from Asia accounted for 97.9 percent of all arrivals last month. The number of visitors from India fell 22.4 percent to just 8,964.

In the first eight months, the number of visitor arrivals reached 18.7 million, up 1.1 percent on the same period of last year.(macaunews)
