Macau, China, 26 Sept – Macau logged a record 2.69 million visitor arrivals in August, an increase of 14.4 percent on the same month last year, The Macau Post Daily reports today, citing official statistics.
The previous record stood at 2.55 million in July.
The daily average of visitor arrivals stood at 87,032 in August. At the end of June, Macau ’s population stood at 558,100.
Same-day visitors accounted for 52.3 percent of all visitor arrivals in August.
Mainlanders and Hong Kong residents made up 58.2 percent and 28.0 percent of the total number of visitor arrivals in August.
Visitors from Asia accounted for 97.9 percent of all visitor arrivals in August.
The number of Indonesian visitor arrivals jumped 122.4 percent to 25,620 in August. Indian visitor arrivals rose just 1.6 percent year-on-year to 11,532. The number of Vietnamese visitor arrivals leapt 95.1 percent to 1,227.
In the first eight months the number of visitor arrivals reached 18.49 million, up 10.4 percent year-on-year. Just six percent of all visitors arrived by air. Some 54.2 percent arrived by land via Zhuhai and 39.8 percent arrived by sea from Hong Kong and Guangdong.(MacauNews/Tourism)
