The “2019 Macao International Parade”, organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau, was held on Sunday to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of Macao’s handover to China. The ceremony started at the Ruins of St Paul, which then met its conclusion when all the participating groups — both local and foreign — gathered and performed at Sai Van Lake Square for the Handover Celebration in the evening. In the backdrop was a fireworks display that lit up Macao’s skyline.
A number of awards were presented to a list of winning participating groups:
- Outstanding Theme Award went to Macau «Casa de Portugal»
- Best Costume Award went to the Zhanjiang Human Dragon Dance from the city of Zhanjiang in China’s Guangdong Province
- Best Performance Award went to Macau Talent Academy Association
- Most Creative Award went to Clube dos Amigos do Riquexó
- Most Energetic Award went to the Bisdak Association of Macau
- Parade King Award went to Lei Man Hong of the Macao International Cultural Inherit Association
- Parade Queen Award went to Im I Cheng from the Creative Image Arts Association of Macau : by makeup group Amble
- Most Popular Award went to the Macau Youth International Art and Culture Association
The parade showcased a diverse array of cultural and artistic performances from different regions and countries along the “One Belt, One Road” initiative, to highlight its cultural integration and promoting the parade as a platform for cultural and arts exchange.
Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture of the Macao SAR Government, Alexis Tam Chon Weng was present for the closing ceremony.
