Macau, China, 22 July – Macau received 14.92 million visitors in the first half of 2008, which was a rise of 18.1 percent against the same period of 2007, the region’s Statistics and Census Bureau said Monday in Macau.
The number of visitors from mainland China was 8.77 million, or a rise of 27.1 percent year on year.
In June, the total number of visitors to Macau was 2.3 million, which was a rise of 22.0 percent as compared to the same month of 2007.
The number of visitors from mainland China (1.35 million), from Hong Kong (622,000) and Southeast Asia (128,000) rose 36.6, 0.6 and 42.3 percent, respectively.
In 2007, Macau received almost 27 million visitors, 14.8 million of which from mainland China. (macaunews)
