The Macau government described on Sunday the Macau section of the US State Department’s 2016 Country Report on Human Rights Practices as “ignoring facts and making irresponsible comments about the Macau Special Administrative Region [MSAR], which is an internal affair of China.”
The statement also said that the MSAR government “strongly rejects” the US report, adding that Macau is governed by its people and that it enjoys a high degree of autonomy, which is successfully being implemented.
The statement adds that Macau people are enjoying a wide range of liberties and rights fully guaranteed by the Macau Basic Law. The statement also said that the successful implementation of Macau’s political system is being recognised by the international community.
