The annual Feast of the Drunken Dragon festival was held last Monday on Buddha’s Birthday by the fishermen associations of Macao. Starting early at Kuan Tai Temple and heading all the way down to the Inner Harbour, performers armed with a wooden head and tail of a dragon do a drunken dance, give out auspicious longevity rice and – as you’d expect – drink lots of wine.
This rowdy, boisterous festival is an important part of Macao’s history and is proudly on the List of Intangible Cultural Heritage.
