Macanese cuisine, the world’s first “fusion cuisine”, is traditionally home-cooked and hard to find in Macao. However, this has changed since Macao’s UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy designation in 2017, with efforts to celebrate and preserve the cuisine by training chefs to showcase it creatively using local ingredients and reducing food waste.
