Phase 2 of a railway line to Zhuhai Airport is expected to be ready for operation by as early as January 2024, according to multiple local media reports.
Currently, the project is undergoing tests that are expected to last for two weeks.
Once the entire line is completed, passengers will be able to travel between Gongbei and Zhuhai Airport in approximately 25 minutes. Gongbei is the subdistrict of Zhuhai that is situated on the border with Macao.

The new line is a westbound extension of Phase 1, which consists of a seven-station line that runs between Zhuhai Station, in Gongbei, and Changlong Station. It will add six additional stations, beginning with Jing Wan Station and ending at the airport’s terminal 2.
The completed line measures almost 40 kilometres and will employ trains that can run at a top speed of 160 kilometres per hour.
Reports have also noted that there is the potential for the track to be linked with the Macao Light Rail via Hengqin Port, although no official announcements have been made.
