Macau recorded 2.16 million visitor arrivals last month, a decline of 0.2 percent from the same month last year, according to official statistics cited by The Macau Post Daily today.

Month-on-month, September’s number of visitor arrivals was down 19.4 percent.

Same-day visitors accounted for 50.1 percent of all visitor arrivals last month. Visitors’ average length of stay stood at just one day.
The daily average of arrivals stood at 72,052 in September.

Mainlanders accounted for 58.1 percent of all visitor arrivals. Hongkongers made up 26.9 percent of the total number of arrivals.

Visitors from Asia accounted for 97.4 percent of all visitor arrivals in September. While the number of arrivals from South Korea rose 22.1 percent year-on-year to 32,585, the number of arrivals from India fell 22.9 percent to just 9,748.

The number of mainlanders visiting Macau last month increased a mere 0.8 percent year-on-year. The number of Hong Kong arrivals remained virtually unchanged from September last year. A total of 16,601 people from Thailand visited Macau last month, up 51.5 percent year-on-year.

Visitor arrivals totalled 7.28 million in the third quarter, a 1.7 percent decrease from the same period of last year. In the first nine months, the number of visitor arrivals reached 20.86 million, up one percent year-on-year.

Last year, Macau logged a record 28 million visitor arrival.(macaunews)
