Vice Premier Wang Yang will attend the 8th APEC Tourism Ministerial Meeting (TMM8) which will be held in Macau today and tomorrow, according to a statement by the Chief Executive Office .
The office said that Wang will attend a welcoming dinner hosted by the local government tonight. He will also attend the opening ceremony of the ministerial meeting at Macau Dome in Cotai tomorrow morning.
During his two-day trip Wang will also meet Chief Executive Fernando Chui Sai On and the delegates attending the meeting before he returns to Beijing tomorrow afternoon, according to the statement.
The office said that 152 attendees including tourism ministers and other representatives of the 21 Asia-Pacific Economic Co-operation (APEC) members, delegates from the APEC Secretariat, UN World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO), World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC), Asia Pacific Travel Association (PATA) and APEC Centre for International Sustainable Tourism will take part in the one-day meeting which will end with a “Macau Declaration.”
Wang visited Macau in November last year to attend the Forum for Economic and Trade Co-operation between China and Portuguese-Speaking Countries.
Unlike the mainland, Taiwan and Hong Kong, Macau is not an APEC member.
It is the first time for Macau to host an APEC meeting at the request of the central government.(macaunews/macaupost)
