Three million visitors set new record last month

Macau’s visitor arrivals reached 3,053,690 last month, a new record since August 2014, up 8.5 percent year on year and 7.8 percent month to month, the Statistics and Census Bureau (DSEC) said Tuesday.

Macau’s visitor arrivals reached 3,053,690 last month, a new record since August 2014, up 8.5 percent year on year and 7.8 percent month to month, the Statistics and Census Bureau (DSEC) said Tuesday.

The daily average of visitor arrivals stood at 98,506 in December.

The number of overnight visitors (1,635,305) and same-day visitors (1,418,385) rose 5.5 percent and 12.2 percent respectively year on year.

Visitors’ average length of stay of visitors held steady year on year at 1.2 days, with that of overnight visitors and same-day visitors standing at 2.1 days and 0.2 day respectively.

Visitors from the Chinese mainland increased 15.8 percent year on year to 2,068,760 in December, primarily from Guangdong, Hunan, Hubei and Fujian.

Visitors from Hong Kong (572,470) dropped 5.4 percent year on year, while those from the South Korea (77,141) rose 9.0 percent. Meanwhile, visitors from the United States, Canada and Britain suffered decreases.

The data also showed that visitor arrivals reached 32,610,506 last year, up by 5.4 percent year-on-year.
