Macau, China, 24 Aug – Macau logged a record 2.55 million visitor arrivals in July, up 18 percent year-on-year, The Macau Post Daily reports today, quoting data released by the Statistics and Census Bureau (DSEC).

The daily average of visitor arrivals reached 82,286 last month, corresponding to nearly 15 percent of Macau ’s population.

The previous monthly record stood at 2.35 million visitor arrivals in August last year.

Same-day visitors accounted for 51.9 percent of all visitor arrivals last month.

Mainlanders accounted for 57.3 percent of all visitors. Visitors from Guangdong province accounted for 51.4 percent of all of Macau ’s visitor arrivals from the mainland.

Hong Kong residents accounted for 28.2 percent of all visitors arrivals last month.

The number of visitors from Japan fell 11.1 percent year-on-year to just 29,255 in July.

In the first seven months of this year, Macau recorded 15.8 million visitor arrivals, up 9.8 percent year-on-year. Half of all visitors arrived by land via the Zhuhai-Macau Barrier Gate checkpoint. Just 6.1 percent of all visitors arrived by air.(MacauNews/Tourism)
