In the first eight months of the year, 23,251,990 visitors came in, or 8.9%, compared to the same period of 2017, according to information from the Macau Statistics and Census Service.
The number of visitors from mainland China (16,400,886) and Taiwan (720,988) rose 14.2% and 0.7%, respectively, year on year.
However, in the period between January and August the number of visitors from the Republic of Korea (549,455) and Hong Kong (4,101,749) decreased by 5.8% and 2.4%, respectively.
In August, 3,403,503 visitors visited Macao, an increase of 12.2% on a monthly basis.
In August, 2,527,309 visitors came from Mainland China, up 25.3% year on year.
Visitors from mainland China mainly came from the provinces of Guangdong (1,092,209) and Hunan (128,301).
Visitor numbers from Hong Kong (556,372) and Taiwan (94,123) increased by 5.0% and 1.7%, respectively, on a yearly basis, but the number of visitors from the Republic of Korea (66,052) decreased by 12.6%.
