The total number of visitor arrivals in the first four months dropped 3.6 percent to 9.96 million. However, the number of same-day visitors, who accounted for 56 percent of the total rose 0.6 percent.
Mainlanders accounted for 66.8 percent of all visitor arrivals. Hongkongers continued to be city’s number-two visitor segment, at 21 percent of the total.
In April, the number of visitor arrivals fell 3.4 percent year-on-year to 2.54 million.
While the number of South Korean visitors rose 12.7 percent year-on-year to 209,859 in the first fourth months of the year, the number of Japanese visitors fell 17.6 percent to 83,239, the Statistics and Census Bureau (DSEC) said in a statement on Friday. (macaunews/macaupost)
