Macau received 28 million visitors from January to November, which represents a year on year fall of 3.1 percent, the region’s Statistics and Census Bureau said Monday.

The number of visitors from mainland China (18.7 million), South Korea (499,200) and Japan (255,200) decreased by 4.4 percent, 1.6 percent and 7.2 percent, respectively. Visitors from Hong Kong (5.9 million), the Philippines (246,500) and Taiwan (902,900) increased 1.1 percent, 4.4 percent and 3.1 percent, respectively.

In November 2.5 million visitors entered Macau, a year on year fall of 7.6 percent, while those from mainland China decreased 12.6 percent to 1.7 million.

In contrast, the number of visitors from Hong Kong (512,500), South Korea (46,000), Japan (27,200) and Taiwan (84,600) rose 0.9 percent,10.8 percent, 8.8 percent and 21.6 percent, respectively, year on year.
