Macau, China, 24 Nov – Macau recorded 20.68 million visitor arrivals in the first 10 months of this year, an increase of 16 percent on the same period of last year, the Statistics and Census Bureau (DSEC) announced Tuesday.

Chinese mainlanders, Hongkongers and Taiwanese accounted for 52.8 percent, 30.2 percent and 5.3 percent of all arrivals, respectively.

Some 97.3 percent of all arrivals between January and October were from Asia.

In the first 10 months of this year, there were just 243,259 visitors from North and Latin America, 198,855 from Europe and 104,887 from Oceania, mostly Australia.

The number of Indian visitor arrivals rose 61 percent to 141,417, while the number of South Korean arrivals grew 62.4 percent to 271,161. The number of Thai visitors fell 13.4 percent to 172,772 in the first 10 months of this year.

Meanwhile, the number of visitor arrivals in October rose 7.5 percent year-on-year to 2.09 million. Month-to-month, the figure was up 13.7 percent.
