Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) is in the midst of its three-day Annual Marketing Meeting 2016, which started on Monday, gathering some 50 participants including the MSAR’s delegations from different regions.

The meeting, also attended by MGTO’s market representatives and PR consultants, features discussions on the bureau’s marketing plans to be carried out in 2017.

MGTO director Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes updated the representatives on the territory’s latest tourism situation and presented the major local events lined up for the second half of 2016.

The tourism office also presented key projects including the Macau Tourism Industry Development Master Plan.

Meanwhile, Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture, Alexis Tam, conducted a work meeting on the first day for the overall planning marketing strategies in the future, according to a statement from MGTO.

Tam claimed that the local government has combined the elements of tourism, culture and sports to create a synergistic effect by staging three signature events last December, namely Macau International Marathon, Parade through Macau, Latin City and the first edition of the Macau Light Festival.

The secretary also stressed that the region is developing new projects including “Anim’Arte Nam Van;” “International Film Festival & Awards Macau;” “Wushu Masters Challenge” and the revitalization project of Taipa Houses-Museum.

Market representatives will inspect the “Anim’Arte Nam Van,” which was launched early this month, as well as other new tourism attractions today.

According to the statement, MGTO’s various market representatives have been branding Macau as an ideal destination to visit for leisure through joining travel fairs and organizing various road shows, travel marts and familiarization trips.
